Plaid Cymru candidate for Preseli Pembrokeshire

John Osmond is Plaid Cymru’s candidate in Preseli Pembrokeshire for the Assembly election. He has strong roots in the county, having been brought up in Little Haven as well as in Abergavenny.

He stood in Preseli in the 2007 Assembly election and was a leader of the successful campaign in that year to prevent the downgrading of Withybush hospital in Haverfordwest. This, he says, remains a priority in the forthcoming campaign.

A writer and journalist John was the founding Director of the Institute of Welsh Affairs, a policy think tank which has focused much of its work around the policies and development the National Assembly.

The author of numerous books on Welsh politics and culture he has been a journalist with the Western Mail and has also worked as a television producer for ITV and the BBC. He is a Fellow of Cardiff Metropolitan University and has been awarded an Honorary MA by the University of Wales.
