Plaid Cymru candidate for Brecon and Radnorshire and fourth on the Mid & West list
Freddy is a local family man, born and bought up in the constituency. He is a University of Cambridge graduate in Earth Sciences and is passionate about the future of our rural society. He has detailed knowledge of the local economy and its skills needs. Born in East Radnorshire, Freddy attended Gladestry Church in Wales Primary School and then Builth Wells High School.
Following university he worked for the Home Office in London and then moved to Japan to teach English. Freddy chose to return to Mid-Wales in 2009 as he could think of no better place to start a family. He and his wife Naoko have two children; Iolo, four, and Mabli, two. Iolo attends the Welsh Unit at Ysgol Trefonnen in Llandrindod.
Freddy now works in a partnership role for Powys County Council as the Youth Engagement and Progression Coordinator. This position involves coordinating the systems and support in place for some of our most vulnerable young people - those who have disengaged from education and work, and those at risk of doing so.
This has given Freddy great knowledge and experience in: the needs of young people in rural Wales; education and skills provision and requirements; the local economy and its future; and rural deprivation and its impact on everyone in his area.
