"All those affected deserve justice" - Leanne Wood responds to First Minister statement

Responding to the statement made by First Minister Carwyn Jones this afternoon following the death of Carl Sargeant, Plaid Cymru Leader Leanne Wood has called for an independent inquiry to be conducted in "a mature, dignified and respectful manner".

The Plaid Cymru Leader added that the First Minister had failed to address key questions in his statement. She added that all those affected by the tragic events of the past few days deserve justice, particularly the family of Carl Sargeant.

Party of Wales Leader Leanne Wood said:

"The First Minister's statement and his failure to answer questions after calling a press conference was not adequate given the gravity of this situation.

"Many questions remain unanswered by the First Minister - a factor that will prolong the distress for all those involved.

"The process of addressing these questions must now commence with an independent inquiry and should be conducted in a mature, dignified and respectful manner.

"All of those affected by these events deserve justice, especially the family."
