Plaid Cymru candidate for Neath and third candidate on South Wales West regional list
Councillor Alun Llewelyn is an experienced local candidate, achieving second place in Neath at the 2011 Assembly elections.
Alun lives in the Neath constituency. He is a long-standing Councillor for his home area of Ystalyfera, and an active supporter of local voluntary organisations.
He is a former director of a local housing association, with a 30-year professional career.
His wife Rhian teaches at Cwmtawe Comprehensive School, Pontardawe. They have three children.
He is Plaid’s Economics Spokesperson on the council, at a crucial time for the local economy following the threat to Port Talbot steelworks and local factories.
Alun’s priorities are:
Better health – ending delays in primary care services in our valleys, improving access to health and social care, specialist cancer diagnosis centres, and recruiting more doctors.
First class education – too many valley primary schools have been closed under Neath Port Talbot Council. Plaid are ambitious to raise education standards in Wales by working with teachers and parents.
A better future for Neath and the Valleys –we are serious about regenerating the historic town of Neath after years of neglect. Valleys across Neath Port Talbot need consistent investment in our environment, facilities, housing, and economic activity.
